What is the Federal Skilled Worker Program (FSWP)?
The FSWP is Canada’s main immigration pathway for skilled foreign workers under the Express Entry system. It offers Permanent Residency (PR) to candidates with relevant qualifications, work experience, and strong language skills.
Eligibility Criteria
- At least one year of full-time skilled work experience (NOC TEER 0, 1, 2, or 3) in the past 10 years
- Minimum CLB 7 (IELTS 6.0 in all bands)
- Valid Educational Credential Assessment (ECA)
- Proof of settlement funds (unless you have a valid job offer)
- Score at least 67/100 on the FSW eligibility grid
Express Entry & CRS Score
Candidates are ranked in the Express Entry pool using the Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS). Points are awarded based on:
- Age
- Education
- Language proficiency (IELTS/PTE)
- Work experience
- Spouse factors (if applicable)
- Provincial nomination or Canadian job offer
Recent CRS cut-off: ~480–510 (as of early 2025)

- Police clearance & medical exam
- Proof of funds (CAD 13,757+ for single applicant)
- Job offer (optional, but adds points)
Application Process
- Take a language test (IELTS/PTE/TEF)
- Get your education assessed via WES or equivalent
- Create an Express Entry profile
- Enter the pool and wait for Invitation to Apply (ITA)
- Submit full PR application within 60 days of ITA
Visa Fees & Processing Time
- PR Fee: CAD 1,365 (single applicant)
- Processing Time: 6–10 months after ITA
