Step 1: Determine Your Visa Type
Most short-stay Finland visitors require a Type C Schengen visa. This includes tourism, family visits, or business travel for up to 90 days in 180 days.
Step 2: Gather Required Documents
- Passport valid for at least 3 months beyond return date
- UK residence permit or BRP card (if applying from UK)
- Completed and signed visa application form
- Proof of travel (flight booking & hotel reservation)
- Travel insurance with €30,000 coverage (e.g. SafetyWing)
- Proof of financial means (bank statement, payslip)
- Visa fee: ~€80 (approx. £70)
Step 3: Book an Appointment
You must book through VFS Global or the nearest Finnish consulate. Appointments may take 2–6 weeks to secure.
Step 4: Attend the Appointment
- Arrive on time with all documents
- Pay fee (if not prepaid online)
- Submit biometrics (fingerprints and photo)
Step 5: Wait for Processing
Normal processing time is 10–15 days. During peak seasons (April–July), expect delays.
